Everyday the children and staff pray together, and on most mornings there is an assembly where Bible stories, songs and a brief talk help us start the day.
On Wednesdays at 9.15am, the whole school attends a special family service at Saint Gabriel's Church. This is a lively event to which parents, friends and members of the parish are invited to join with us.
At these services we sing songs, our Vicar Malcolm gives a talk, and we pray to God for those less fortunate than us, and for our own needs. Children are encouraged to speak to Malcolm before the service with people/issues that we can pray together about.
We observe the major festivals of the church, saints days etc and also use half termly themes to help us really think about a particular story or issue. Currently we are thinking about Jesus' time in the wilderness and then his journey from the cross on which he died, to the empty tomb at Easter because he had risen from the dead.
You are welcome to join us for these special acts of worship.
Guidance for parents regarding the withdrawal of their child from worship
If the parent of any pupil in attendance at any maintained school requests that he may be wholly or partly excused from attendance at religious worship at school, the pupil shall be so excused accordingly until the request is withdrawn.
The legal reference regarding withdrawal from collective worship can be found in the Education Act 1996 Part V, Chapter III, section 389 and, more recently, in the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998 Part II, Chapter VI, section 71.
